While visiting with us you will find plenty of things to do in and around the area. We are 1 mile from Arena Cove which is a very popular spot for abalone diving, snorkling, surfing, fishing (no license required from the pier), and crabbing. The pier has a pizza parlor, gift shop,coffee shop and a new upscale restaurant The Chowder House! We are within walking distance to town which has an artsy feel with brightly colored shops lining the Main St.. You can take a short walk to several shops including restaurants, a variety of gifts, art, herb and natural products shops which offer a delightful array of gifts, clothing, local handmade items and more. There is also a couple of grocery stores which also include coffee, sandwhiches, burritos oysters, wine and spirits, and much more.. Downtown is the Historical Arena Theater which was built in 1929 as a vaudeville playhouse. It still shows movies throughout the week, and is also where concerts are held such as Blues On The Coast 2009 Series with Smokin' Joe Kubek & Bnois King, The MOFO Party Band and more. The theater also hosts "Metropolitan Opera Live HD" providing at least nine live transmissions throughout the year. Annual Fisherman's Harbor and Seafood Festival: Events include: free boatrides, kid's games, a nautical flea market, skiff race, live music, and much more...Back this year will be "Best Smoked Salmon on the Coast" contest, with celebrity judges and its open to all. Contact Laur Smith at Cove Coffee and Tackle (707) 882-2665 for application and info. There will be seafood galore, plus salads and desserts. Soft drinks and beer on tap will be available. The event will have tockets on sale $1.00 each with food prices ranging from 1-5 tickets per item. Proceeds from the event are used to improve and maintain the pier. Non-Profit organizations are invited to have vendor booths. Registration commences at 9:30 a.m. and the run takes off at approximately 11:00 a.m. The return finishes at Arena Cove for a catered BBQ , bike games, music, raffles, door prizes and Ride in Bike Show. Everyone is Welcome! All proceeds benefit the Redwood Coast Riders vocational scholarship fund. Poker run including party $30 per person Party only $20 per person Pre-registered participants receive Poker Run "pins". Pre-registration is encouraged. Point Arena Cove : Point Arena Cove Port Road, Point Arena, CA (1 mile away from the Sea Shell Inn) A great location to relax and enjoy the calm Northcoast, populated with surfers and fisherman. Great for weekend getaways! Point Arena Fireworks display and independence day parade: yearly on July 3rd a magnificent fireworks at Point Arena Pier on the oceanfront along with live music, dancing, food, fun for kids and adults. Then on July 4th There is an independence Day parade on Main St (hwy 1) in downtown Point Arena. Bowling Ball State Beach: The beach and headlands preserve a scenic spot along the Mendocino Coast and offers a stunning perch for watching sunsets, or merely sitting in the grass as the afternoon sun glistens on the waters below. Fishing, picnicking, and surfing are popular activities here.
